Yes; if you’re someone they want to keep, they’ll work with you on location/staffing, plus as long as you’re decently close to a major airport for travel you’re good; and if you’re not someone they want to keep, you’ll have to decide what you want to do (relocation and job wise)
What's your alternative? What are the implications of relocation (new school for kids? New job for spouse? International visa/experience?)? And how does 1 year at MBB impact your career plans, especially given that you're already a Senior Manager?
Several assumptions need to line up for a year to be worthwhile. Assuming you plan to exit consulting soon anyway, the pay is comparable/better, you don't have kids to re-school, your spouse won't need to find a new job, and this is a lateral role at SM-equivalent level, I'd do it for the resume bump, and possibility of another year there.
In addition to the above assumptions, if you're set on partner, or otherwise think this job won't open doors for your exit, then maybe not.
That makes a lot of sense!

No — everyone will assume you couldn’t hack it and got fired. No one leaves after 1 year.
Hmm I’m thinking if I left around the 1 year mark, I could explain my reasons for considering leaving when interviewing with companies (family considerations) but sounds like that could be risky.
