Best car rental rewards? I was forced into Avis for last gig, but now I'm free. Weekly rentals from Avis got me about 4 free days a year (with tax that's about $50 a rental).

Weekly National rentals would get you ~10 free days / year, and nice thing is that you can redeem for one way, more expensive car class etc.

Even more than that — don’t forget to look for and sign up for the “One Two Free” promotions

I never did the math on what I got per year but I haven’t paid for a rental car from hertz in years

like

Hertz is my go to. Avis is awful. Hertz gives you a great selection of cars. Cannot speak to any of the other brands out there.

Same story OP - used Avis for a whole year and got like 6 free days. Had to pay for taxes still which is almost half the total anyways so pretty crappy points. I switched to Hertz

I have National. But I also have a personal Amex platinum that gives me executive status. So I can book any midsize car and drive away with any car on the lot—including full size, SUV, mini-vans. It’s a great benefit. Also not having to go to the counter to get my car.
But hands down my best personal rental experience has come from Silvercar. If I’m in a town with their service I’m getting it 100%. Nothing but silver Audi’s pick up and airport drop off includes, free Sirius, and lot of other nice stuff.

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.

7 year lawyer here. Been with the same big national firm all 7 years (not BigLaw) doing complex litigation. Been working remote a long time due to moving around for wife’s job. As a result of the moving was bumped off partner track. I’m looking at a great small firm that will be a practice change (but still litigation). I’m told they’re looking for someone with less experience and they’re skeptical because of my experience. It’s frustrating. How do I overcome this?

Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. I was told by the director to not mention it to anyone but I figured if anyone knew I got one it’d be my boss. I feel super uncomfortable now because do I essentially lie to my boss because I’m not supposed to talk about it.
