Is it wrong that I have no ambition to make partner and just want to coast? Don’t need the money, just want my life back.

Part time hours and a counsel position may be the ticket my friend.

This is literally my dream scenario. I would figuratively murder someone to be a part time counsel in a few years making $400k/year. - an almost burned out fifth year.

lol I have no ambition and it shows in my unwillingness to sweat the small stuff. I’m here for a good time, not a long time.

Not at all. I’m coasting by at counsel level waiting to retire. Hopefully only five more years, but getting worried the market is going to take a dump soon and set me back a bit.

Sent, thanks!

How does being a part time counsel even work if you’re transactional though? I don’t see my hours getting better, just more sporadic

Take more planned vacations? Need to find a balance where you’re staffed on less and/or have backup coverage for your clients when you’re not available.

When do you switch from first-year to second-year at your firm in terms of salary - at the end of the firm’s fiscal year or January 1? For context, my firm’s fiscal year ends in November and the annual billing requirements restart then.

1st yr at a nyc v50 firm doing general transactional work. I know the lateral market for transactional lawyers is hot but not as hot for juniors. Would it look bad on my resume?

First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).
