Following! I know so many associates/ partners who can definitely afford to live in London with a family but have chosen to move outside of the city and I’ve wondered why that is… space? Schools?
Depends where you’re moving from and depends on where in London. London isn’t a cheap place to raise a family and usually people move out to the suburbs, like Kent or Surrey to accommodate for the lack of space
There are no good school districts in central London which is why people move further out. There are some good primary schools (eg Angel, Gospel Oak, Parliament hill etc) but no good secondary schools they feed into, so people end up going private from primary to ensure they have a spot at the secondary. Plus the space issue is real — a four bed in Angel would run you >2m. Depending on where you commute to, I think people live around Wimbledon, certain areas around Finchley/Barnet, Ealing Broadway etc.

Childcare in London is super expensive so I reckon it’s easier to move further out if both parents are working and there could be grandparents nearby. I’d suggest start thinking about how you’d manage childcare and look at potential options like nursery costs, nanny fees etc. Also space may be another reason why people move further out and get more value for their money per square meter
