Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.

Trying to gauge the meaning of response from PPED round. Was interviewing for a position in one of the big 4 and the principal in the PPED round mentioned at the end of the call “ I will have my recruiter reach out to you and discuss the next steps”. What does this mean? is it a good sign or not? Any idea folks?

I rattle myself when speaking with clients/seniors with thoughts like:
- “What if they misinterpret me?” which makes me backtrack the conversation and provide unnecessary details
- “Am I making sense?” which makes me second guess myself, ruining my flow

I want to have the confidence to stop second guessing myself when I speak. I’m afraid of coming off as an idiot, but I don’t think this is an appropriate way to think

How do I come to terms with this?
