Is there a succinct explanation of how B4 partner comp works? Trying to understand how it compares to public companies (eg. Accenture). Trying to understand K1 impacts, retirement, healthcare, etc.

If/when you get an offer, the “partner matters” office will walk you through all of this and questions. FYI - Healthcare premiums are very high as an owner of a firm. I pay $3,100 a month for a family of 5, for top plan.

funny

P2 it’s easy - live in a country that doesn’t see healthcare as a profit centre.

Well, there are certainly some commonalities across all Big4 partner systems. All will be K-1, which means you’re filing taxes across all states and it’s super complex. You will likely all have monthly draw based on some kind of base-comp equivalent and then some kind of profit sharing unit that carries an annual value. Most likely you will have some quarterly draw to help with quarterly estimated tax payments. some firms may also pay advances of profit on a more frequent basis as opposed to one single lump sum at the end of the year. calendar year vs tax year vs fiscal year may not line up so cash flow related to taxes can get quite complex. And benefits are basically all out of pocket (you’re an owner, not an employee).

Pretty much everywhere will be better for you.

I know you’re not going to like this, but it’s different depending on which firm. Do you know anyone at the firm you’re looking to join that could talk you through it?

- buy units for X
- get a bit more than X each year in unit value
- each year, buy more units as your raise
- pay all benefits out of pocket
- pension will vary, worth maybe 10-30k per year
- taxes and cash flow are complicated, not advantageous

Hi all, I’m currently a solution architect with 1yoe and two bachelors degrees. I also hold two cloud certifications and make 60k a year. This seems very low considering what I’ve seen for average SA salaries for those who hold the AWS SAA certification. Was hoping for some insight on this and if I should seek more compensation. Thanks!

Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group is too slow. For anything you wanna do inside the organization, 12 months of tenure is required. Even for promotions its the same no matter hoew exceptionally you perform.

Whereas Bain & Company has no such minimum tenure requirement. My colleague got promoted in 4th months of joining right out of college.

hi all, currently have two offers:

1: EY - FDD, home city, very good $$ for FDD

2: PwC - post-merger integration, DDV team (essentially M&A Consulting) - bigger city, always been keen to move

Coming as a Senior in Audit, with recent FDD exposure (2 deals, obviously not much). I was looking for something more than just number crunching, wanting a mix of quant / quali / strategic work. M&A Advisory or a Corp Strategy role is where I'm looking to end up long term.

Thanks in advance!
