I am switching careers from Clinical Social Work into Project Management. I possess many transferable skills and a PM certification. Currently a CSA in PWM at a top wealth management bank (think UBS/MS/GS) but not loving private client work. What have other CSAs gone on to do that’s outside of the PWM realm?

Is it common at McKinsey for partners to be heavily involved in projects? I work in industry and I’m on a project now where a Senior Partner and Partner are on most our calls and seem very involved in delivery. The EM takes point on the deck but less on client relationships. I used to work at Big 4 and honestly our partners were rarely involved.

I went through a pretty rigorous interview process for a marketing project manager but ultimately wasn't given job. Though most of the feedback was positive, the other candidate had more direct experience with the job responsibilities (digital assets, social media, etc.) My job/company dabbles in digital but it's primarily traditional media. How do I again the experience if I'm limited by the type of work we do?

Negotiating a settlement. I’m at $10k, opposing counsel is at $20k. My client won’t go higher than $15k. OC has come down to 17.5k and says his client won’t budge from that. Do I offer 12.5k so we can hopefully meet in the middle at 15k? Is that how the settlement game is played? Seems dumb we can’t just say let’s meet in the middle now and be done with this. (I’m a first year, first time negotiating a settlement on my own and I don’t want to screw this up!)
