I recently worked at an organization where they did remote work. And they opted to travel out of the country for 3 months. They were still able to work remotely. They said they chose not to change there residency because the way the wages would be paid. She didn't want to be paid in Colombian Pesos she rather keep things how they are so she could be paid in USD. She found a work around. She got the best of both worlds
Interesting. What type of role is it?
If your company doesn't already have a base of employees there, it may be tough to get buy in to support it. The company has to pay you in local currency and also follow the employment laws of the location you are working in. If there is no base there already, that means your company has to either figure out all the employment laws, etc. and abide by them, or work with a 3rd party vendor, like iWork Global, which is costly, but these companies have already figured out the employment rules of said country.
Thanks. Very helpful!
Many RPOs support the US from the UK. However, you are paid the local currency you reside in.
Thanks for information. What are RPOs?
My company is fairly ok on temporary residence outside the US; I have a colleague that's been in Dubai for about 6 months now, but they still have a permanent address in the US
I worked from Paris for a few weeks but I wouldn't call that living in Paris
