Mck1 is so wrong it hurts.
It's not a terrible method of redemption, but as DD1 said, you can do better. Amex points are worth roughly 1.5-2 cpp, redeem at that value or better
Makes sense. I stick to American/Starwood. Probably why I've glossed over anything that didn't apply
Read two blogs: thepointsguy and onemileatatime. Both do a decent job calculating points value and variations over time for all kinds of cards, airlines and hotel chains.
And no problem! Happy to help. We're not all assholes at D haha
Sorry Booz, some of us have corporate amex's that we spend thousands of dollars on traveling every week...how's that commute to mclean
No, you can do better. However, given the Amex Travel prices, you are probably saving compared to other ways of buying the same travel.
Believe me I'd be happy to be proved wrong, but the only thing I've seen that's potentially better are promos around transferring them to certain airlines, and generally not American/united/delta. What are the better ways?
Mck1 Transfer to BA or Iberia to use on short haul awards, you fly on American metal but get charged fewer miles.
Yeah, 1c/pt is the best you can do with Amex points
Hyatt is great. Transferring to airlines as well. For example, 25k Amex through Korean can give you RT to Hawaii on Delta metal. Delta charges 45k for the same flights.
Also, ignore what I said about Hyatt, that's Chase UR.
Hmm will have to look into it
Thanks d1
Actually, if you do AA, you can also get West Coast to Hawaii for 25k on AA metal through BA.
Or grow up and get the saphire reserve and redeem for 1.5 points whenever the fuck u want
Mck always one step behind
Yep, we're always struggling to catch up with Booz Allen. Think that's the way that dynamic is typically viewed...
Glad were finally on the same page dum dum
Amex travel is ok if you're booking last minute and can't use miles
