Nope, I got offered a job at $39,000 in Northern Virginia where the town's minimum rent for a not-great 1 bedroom apartment was $1500/month. They told me my 10+ years of experience and my degree were taken into consideration with that offer and told me it was a 2nd income/wife/stay-at-home mom type of job...but they wanted full-time hours where a mom wouldn't be able to be at home in the summers or be off by 3pm with the kids. Make it make sense.
I’m in Nassau County, Long Island. Just bought an 1800 square foot house for $1.2mil, $20k a year property taxes. I make $250k and my wife is at $75k. We have a child. After a small contribution to my retirement we basically break even every month. Hard out here.
Well yeah you can get approved for way more than you can comfortably, responsibly afford. We spent less than half what we were approved for on our house and it feels tighter than I’d like, but we’re not living paycheck to paycheck. Financial stress is so draining that to choose to take it on because of a misguided sense of what kind of a house or neighborhood you *need* to live in is crazy.

If you're an attorney and your raises do not exceed a cost of living increase, it's time to find a new job.
Heck no. I’m part of the support staff and they don’t care about us.
Yes, thankfully ❤️ Feeling very blessed for the balance of salary and WLB that I’ve found. 1750 billing target for just over 200k as a 5th year
If you are happy then your secretary is happy. Can i come work for you? lol
Nope. But I don't think anyone can have a life now. Hubby and I together are making almost 150K a year in southwestern Ohio. Things were ok until the energy crap started happening. 1000 a month has and electric bills and 800 a month for groceries - for two people. Doing what we can to lower costs but it's definitely a struggle and we make good money.
Oh my gosh, that’s horrible!!! Our electric bill in TX is around $250. Groceries for 6 are around $1500
Hell NO!
I don't have any complaints.
Absolutely not
NO!
No, one raise in 4 years last year, but it was 25%. But I also expanded my scope by 100% and absorbed at least two other non-legal roles.
lol No. I’m in house and my yearly increases are usually 2-3% and this year I got none.
No. Not even a third of the increase in my billing rate, either. Irritated but basically stuck.
LOL- NO WAY!!! I'm not sure if it does in ANY State anymore??
I live in Florida and it compensation here is DEPLORABLE and is nowhere near cost of living.
SO TRUE! It’s disgusting!
Nope. Partner salaries are capped at my firm. And artificially low. Bonus typically makes it up, but I haven't had a raise in 4 years.
