Same here. Almost a year now. Those American dream!!! Lol
My condolences, I agree this is not an easy job market to navigate. I was laid off a few months ago with over 2 decades of experience in my field. Here’s what helped me find my next job, and trust me when I say this isn’t a perfect science. I had sooo many crickets so to speak after applying for jobs, even 3 months after my second interview at one company, I was told they were ready to start interviewing with the hiring manager.
1) I redid my resume, and then I did it again, and again, until I had a version I felt really encompassed who I was and my experience.
Chat GPT can help however use it as suggestions and write things in your own words. This can prove helpful as well when looking to tailer your cover letter to the job you are applying for, again take what it gives you as suggestions.
2) I looked at how I could translate my job skills into another industry. This was really helpful as I was laid off from a large fintech along with a lot of other people with the same skills, so there was a LOT of competition for the same jobs we were laid off from at direct competitors.
3) Look outside of LinkedIn, get creative in your job search. I didn’t find any luck when applying directly through LinkedIn.
I hope this is helpful, I feel for you. It’s a tough market these days.
I went straight to google. For example, I work in Fintech. I created a list of what industries/businesses I could use my skills in. Payment processing company’s, financial institutions, etc. I started looking up companies near me, remote, etc and just went down the list and looked for openings. I found a lot of companies don’t post their job openings on these other sites because it comes with an extra cost.
I am so sorry to hear this OP. I know the market is really tough right now and it can be really discouraging especially with bills looming overhead. Have you tried getting a direct referral to a company? I would try posting in the job referral bowl and see if you can get someone to refer you for a role.
Thanks for this suggestion. I made a post over there, so we'll see.
Sailing same boat and still i am positive i am getting good job offers.
Have you recently had any interviews?
