It seems our practice area is being downsized or consolidated into these virtual WFH roles. So far I see Littler, Proskauer, Seyfarth, Ogletree, and Fisher Phillips offering these roles and I would expect the trend to continue in 2025 and beyond. As a lawyer entering his 9th year, I like it though I do think not being in an office has its downside. How we feeling about it?

Anyone feel frustrated at times with the super aggressive sales personalities we deal with? My AE is always pushing on every ask no matter how minuscule it is. Any advice on how to get clients to pay your invoice on time / what to do when they don't? I’m working at an insurance defense firm, trying to target my practice to L&E. Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load. Is this what people consider negative work culture?

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?
