It’s interesting when recruiters are looking for “3-4 YOE” from “top tier strategy firms”, casually mention that they’ve placed ex MBB on the team, and then act shocked when you say comp expectations are 170 all in. Don’t many strategy firms regularly pay their senior associates or the like around 165 base?

I interviewed with capgemini for SAP ABAP role and my YOE is 4 years. Just 2 hours after my interview, I got a call from someone at Capgemini saying that I am selected.
They just asked my notice period and current location.I asked them, what is the next round going to be and they said that it is going to be salary discussion. But till now, no one has reached out to me.
Does it mean they got another candidate for same job?

Received an offer from Amazon but I'm concerned about negotiating hard and ending up with an offer that's on the higher end of the pay band when compared to the rest of the (future) team.
