I've been approached by a non-profit to work 20/hours a week on 2 workforce development grants: writing, implementation, and evaluation. I have worked in the non-profit sector in FT roles (PM promoted to AVP managing 10M in grants) so, this work is not new to me. However, this is my first contract/consultant role. The CEO is asking what I would like to make & I have no idea as to what something like this would pay...it will be a 1099 gig and the grants total $600k year. Low COL.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.

So can I accept the offer from first company and then if second one also sends an offer then let the first company know I would like to reject? Also i am on H1B visa.
