Ding ding ding. Your old salary does not matter now that you're no longer earning it. Take the money and the job and continue applying.
Take it and keep looking for your target role. Use the opportunity to glean new or cross-functional skills that you can include in your resume/cover letter/elevator pitch. “I have direct experience in ____ industries/roles, handling ____ responsibilities to ____ results.” Think of it like an MD’s fellowship. This is your fellowship in an area of business and you get to determine the story of how it expands your skills and marketability.
That sounds like a way better offer than having zero income to me. I would take the job and then use my free time to keep applying and looking for something better.
Been looking for a job for more than 6 months and decided to do part time work as event Steward, depends how comfortable you are financially but also how mentally being unemployed affects you, As for me am young and energetic and not picky, need to work because one day this body won't be fit enough to do every job

Its interesting that everyone is telling to keep the job. On the other side if everyone will accept less in the future everyone will gain less. Willingness to accept everything is at dramatic. If you have the possibility, remain calm and keep looking for something better.
It depends entirely on circumstance. Do you have money set aside to pay your bills? You have the privilege of holding out. If you are quickly running out...like me...then take the job while searching for a better fit.
Your individual circumstances matter more than any solution you are going to get.
How long is your “live without a salary” runway?
Connect to your decision making machine: are you evaluating salary alone? Is being productive more important than the salary? Is earning less than before an ego problem? Will the new salary be enough to live on?
The answers are inside.
Contracts work both ways: the employer can dump you at any time but you can leave too if you find something better in the meantime.
