This is a Publicis Groupe problem too because all final approvals have to go through France. And we all know how quickly things move there...
WPP has this problem a lot, especially at higher levels. Gotta go before the board making the case for a new hire, takes months. Meanwhile, the business needed you yesterday.
Just show up.
depending on their fiscal year, they may be waiting for the budget to allow a hire.
They're either interviewing someone else and waiting for that process to go through, the client you'd be working on is about to fire that agency or they don't want you any more. In any case, I'd continue interviewing.
I'm going through the same exact thing right now! I've been interviewing just to burn time. They are in a fiscal year also but hopefully next week I get the official offer.
@strategist1, they specifically said they were finished with the interview process and that I was absolutely the final candidate. And they keep reaching out reassuringly but telling me that there's unfortunately no update--both the recruiter and the account team. And it's a great agency too, this isn't a little dinky spot.
I would continue searching. Another offer might put some fire under their asses. Just be prepared to take the other offer, if this one doesn't pan out. Also know you might burn some bridges at the other agency.
Stay positive but keep your eyes open. Offers can take time for all the internal paperwork to come together.
Thank you!! 😊
OP, it's "allude"! Not "elude", what you're trying to say. Look it up and make sure you use it currently as account, going forward.
This has happened to me in an independent shop for a more senior positron, even interviewed with clients. Then nothing happened for 2-3 months while they kept "reassuring" me. Then they lost the account and the offer never came and no one ever reached out to me or even attempted to apologize.
If you're going to one of the big networks, then what people said above is true with the possible finance holdup... Just know that until you have an actual offer in writing and counter signed, it's not real and you should treat it as such. Keep interviewing if you're interested in leaving your current place.
Smells like "hiring freeze"
@saatch&saatchi1, that's more what I was thinking and more what they eluded too; fingers crossed budgets are settling mid 2Q? Specific thoughts on that??
@Wunderman1, lol. I love that idea so much. I so wish I could do that. Part of me thinks they actually wouldn't mind. All of me knows that actually doing it would be psychotic haha. But it would make for a great story.
@Creative Director 1, thanks - that actually does sound a lot like what they were eluding to as well, so it's really nice to hear it come organically from somewhere else :)
Ultimatum!!!
*correctly
Why does jlindburg's post have a name above it?
Because she's posting with her full profile info (which I hope she's aware of)
I had the same thing happen at publicis.
