I've heard negative things regarding the culture at Accenture (meat grinder, grunt work, etc). How true is it?

ACN so far has been a lot more supportive and people feel genuine. I was thrown under the bus a few times at D from people I “thought” I trusted. I felt like I could never speak up about what I truly wanted to do because it wouldn’t align with my manager’s plans. Zero personal space, used to get calls on weeknights and weekends, which I quickly learned to shutdown but it was still annoying to deal with

like

I wouldn't call it grinding or anything, but culture-wise we do get pretty savage if you reply all to our firm of 400k people.

like

Accenture people rave about the culture and how friendly it is... grunt work is at every firm tbh

like

🔼 yeah, especially with the ACN stock near all time highs and the generous 15% discount.

like

Lol what. I LOVE the culture here. What do you wanna know?

like

K1, I heard the culture at KPMG and ACN is similar. Cheers, hope the grass is greener for you too.

like

It is like the marines...shit sucks when you are in there because its hard as all hell.

But you learn a lot and come out w confidence to spare.

I have never met someone who did 6+ years in acn and did not appreciate their time w acn or come out and not kick ass in their next position

like

@A1. Former D myself. Your assessment ^^ is dead-on-balls accurate.

like

Totally dependent on practice and project. Few bad actors, law of large numbers 400k people. Generally very impressed by culture and talent pool.

like

Not really. Public companies don't lay off on whims like private companies do. Plus our stock is through the roof & we can get @ a discount. Public companies also offer faster promotion because of larger org structures.

like

False. Spent time at Accenture and it's awesome.

The people that generally make such complaints usually suck bollocks at their job and are coping.

like

K1, I switched over from D. Culture is night and day

like

OP is at PwC lol. And OP, our cyber practice sucks despite the kool aid. If you have the option, go to ACN

like

Only partners would see it @D2

like

That's like all consulting though... And I've had a fairly easy run, though I love to complain anyway

like

I mean, they have a “growing” strategy practice guys... it’s not all “meat grinding”

like

OP must work at D and is looking at exit options.

like

Sucks to be a public company.

like

Finally the hardest change for most people coming over from the big 4 is the level of detail that acn operates at. Most of cybers leadership know what they are deploying inside and out. That level of detail goes from the high level strategy to hands to the key board. So if you are used to quoting NIST and letting the details fall to the clients team then your ride will be rough.

Let me know if you have more questions.
Btw my time at acn was epic

like

At acn1...examples of the differences?
