Fantastic book
I'm reading this right now. Amazing book!
This is so timely. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I'll read it now.
This book was recommended to me by friend. I watched the video and I felt validated and understood. Thank you!
My therapist recommended this book. I have not read it yet.
My psychiatrist recommended it, I haven’t gotten to the read yet!
Wow. I’ve been looking for something like this. Thank you!
You're welcome - I hope it will be helpful for you!
Haven’t read the book but it seems concerning that the take away seems to be “validation” rather than “challenging”. Maybe I’m taking this out of context but validating something existing seems a form of self-soothing rather than growth and progression.
It's interesting that you mention that. That's one of the most surprising things that I've learned about trauma. Because you are stuck in fight or flight mode, you must be gentle with yourself and your nervous system. That's the foundation for moving forward when you've experienced trauma. There has to be a substantial emphasis on validation or even just acknowledging and accepting what you feel to continue to grow and heal. I don't know if that makes sense. My understanding is still pretty limited, but I know that validation is essential for trauma survivors. Not if they're hurting themselves or others but as they process their memories and emotions, for sure.
Great book
Haven't heard of the book before. It's a good recommendation. I will be happy to check it out.
Some odd "ways forward" to end the video.
