Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

If you’re white like me it’s so important to realize that we were raised in a society where institutionalized racism is normalized, and we were born with privilege. You can’t choose the color of your skin, but you can choose to put ego aside and reflect on why this isn’t happening to me, and be vocal about being anti-racist.

You can return for sure. I’m tech side right now after being agency my whole career. Take the money, equity, perks of tech and decide if you want to stay there, jump, or return to agency.

Firstly congrats on getting a job in this tough market.
Second, this opportunity sounds cool. It seems every agency and client is trying to work out how to get noticed on Tik Tok right now.
Also, since when does the ad industry have the right to judge which companies seem suspicious. We all have questionable clients on the books, from oil companies to gambling and even weapons manufacturers.
That can only help your credibility as an agency creative if you do decide to come back in the long term. So just go for it. Don’t hesitate.

Take the $. Agencies won’t be hiring for a while.
Omg GO GO GO! You will totally find ways to apply your experience there to an agency if you decide to go back. Congrats on the win. 🥳

Everyone’s taking anything they can get right now. Use it to position yourself with a unique perspective versus just creatives that stay in only ad agencies. 1-2 years if that and you can say you’re a TikTok expert. And who knows, you might never want to go back to agencies.

I think it would be a great tool to have in your toolbox. The experience would be valued by agencies I think, later.
Do it! Just jumped to a tech company from an agency and I can promise you you’ll never look back!!
Go for it. Can always go back. Plus Tiktok will IPO in 2021 and you will make some coin
Enjoy the equity and the better lifestyle. As someone who made a similar switch last year my guess is you won't want to go back.
Def leave Anomaly
Kinda tone deaf considering they got laid off...
I went client side then went back agency side and then went back client side. The client side experience at a brand people recognized was actually great for going back egency side. You'll be fine. Take it! You can always come back agency side!
Everyone is up tik toks butt right now. You can get back for sure (if you even want to!) You do you and go!! Congrats btw!
You will not have any trouble coming back agency side from TT. If you do good work, everyone will want you. Guaranteed. The bigger questions is: DO YOU WANT TO WORK THERE??? It’s got a startup mentality, and will take passion and drive and a shit ton of energy to succeed there. If it isn’t in you, if you are waffling about how much of yourself you want to invest in that particular job, don’t take it. You’ll be miserable.
Looks like the comments here most surface the compensation aspect of the offer. Not sure if this what OP is looking for, exclusively.
Possibly not, but in the scenario of being laid off/not making any money versus earning a paycheck, it’s the best thing to focus on.
Take it. 1) it's a job 2) it's a hot company 3) it's tech.
I did brand side for 1.5 years, and then did some freelance at a tech company last summer. it's going to be head over heels better than agency side.
You can always come back, until you're 40 and too old to work at an agency :(
Go for it. Sounds like a good opportunity.
Curious to hear what you decided, OP!
