I originally asked for 180-200k base salary since it's a director level role and I'm coming with ~9 YOE. Why is it recommended you give a company 2 weeks notice when you are leaving but at the same time, when they are laying you off/firing you, they typically do it on the spot. I have known countless people layed off/fired on the spot over the years (especially after busy season) and everyone else when they leave give 2 week notice. Why should we relinquish power to corporations? Corporations really don't care about us. They pretend they do.

Sanity check. I like a nice lifestyle. Currently make 350-550k with bonus. 53 years old. About 400k in brokerage. Another 1.9million in retirement accounts. House worth 1.2 million with loan of 625k. For retirement pension will be $2400 per mo which goes to my wife if I die for life. Another 3800k Per month estimated from Social Security. I plan on working another 10 years or so maybe less once the kids graduate college. I am this will be out in 2024. What should I be doing or thinking about?

I am currently a student and will graduate with my bachelors of science this coming May. A few months ago I started working at an architecture firm as an “intern”. My fiancée and I have gotten into a few disagreements about my pay and choosing to stay at this particular firm. I am currently making $15 hr and agree that this is kind of low but he argues this is very low. Is this an average pay for a student intern?

Have money invested in S&P 500, and now starting to regret not having diversified to international stocks as well. Would want to diversify now to buy a total stock market index, however since S&P 500 dropped more than that index, not sure it’s worth to crystallize losses to do that. The alternative is to stop buying S&P 500 and start buying other markets as separate ETFs, to eventually bring in line approx. with total stock market index. Any advice on the best course of action?

Has anyone had success leveraging an athletic scholarship to gain admission into business school? I played quarterback for a power 5 football team and still have a year of eligibility. I obviously didn’t make it to the NFL but would likely be an upgrade at QB for any of the M7. Odds a football coach having my back influences adcoms?

I have 4.3 YOE currently and I was offered Engr II - Full Stack position in VDSI. But after doing some research it seems Engr II is usually for YOE between 2 and 4. Is this correct? Will there be a problem for me if I take up this position with my YOE?
Since I am a lateral entry, I think promotion to Engr III also would take a lot of time.

Also can you please let me know the current designation hierarchy in VDSI?

I’ve worked in Consulting for the past 2.5 years and I’ve loved it! Today is the day where all the horror stories I’ve heard about consulting came true.
