Just a year in my first role as data analyst at a big 4 but projects I’m assigned only involve simple research and analysis that any intern can do. Really wanted to use my first job to build more technical skills, but that’s not happening and my manager keeps apologizing for that but apparently there isn’t much they can do. Would you leave or spend a year more? (I’m quite junior and wonder if leaving after a year is bad on my resume )

Big 4s don’t do a lot of technical stuff imo. I’m sure this may not apply across the board, but just my observation from what I’ve seen with my friends in the firm

U want tech stuff? like heavy one? change to tech consulting. Be careful with what you ask...

likehelpful

Not heavy tech stuff. My background is Applied Econ with some data science knowledge

Key word. Assigned.

Get a mentor/coach. Hunt out the projects you want and have a reputation that they’d want you on the team.

If not if what you want are st company, your mentor/coach can better guide you than generic/anonymous feedback here.

Incoming junior-level consultant wants to know what is “billable hour”.
Once in a while I see discussions around billable hours, but I don’t know how that works. After googling, it appears to me that billable hour only matters to me if my salary is paid by hours. Since I will receive a fixed annual salary, does this mean that I don’t need to worry about the concept of billable hours?
A related questions: generally speaking, is the bonus related to the hours that I worked?
Thanks!
