Check the policy. I couldn’t get paternity leave at UHG (UnitedHealth) because I was under 12 months. The biggest healthcare company in the US (Fortune 5) didn’t allow me to take paternity leave.
What….the….f*%€
My company policy says specifically after 1 year of employment. However, my wife was already pregnant when I was interviewing and I negotiated as part of my offer & hiring that the new company would match my previous benefit of 8 weeks. I’m currently just on “PTO” for 8 weeks instead of a formal leave. My advice is to be transparent about it and if you have a good hiring manager and they want you, they’ll make it work for you.
Not helpful with this comment, but it depends companies define their own standards and it is even more nebulous with paternal vs maternal leave since there are not laws requiring it
At Google, immediately. I know ppl who worked for 1 month then used it.
I think we also have it available immediately, but if you're already expecting when interviewing, you should try to negotiate it no matter what the official company policy is.
Immediately at Accenture.
After 90 days of employment at Guidehouse.
