Just accepted a lateral role with a big firm I am super excited about! Not excited to discover this whole conflicts checks process... ugh lol. New 3rd year associate here. Fellow laterals, how long did it take you to fill out the form with all your clients and opposing parties on it so the new firm can run conflicts?

As a third year associate it took me about 8 hours to complete the conflicts forms- the main issue I had was identifying every matter that I had worked on. I didn’t want to put in my notice before conflicts cleared so I had to manually run some prior billing reports to id the matters I had worked on which took forever, then identifying all of the adverse, and potentially adverse parties for each matter was a real bummer (lit associate)

I lateraled after year 8 and the conflicts/due diligence form took me 10+ hours stretched out over a Sat/Sun. It then took the firm about a week to come back with conflicts and another week of additional information to clear. The older you are, the more clients you're exposed to, the more you have to disclose, etc.

Be thorough and honest; I think I had to go back 3 or 4 years and list every matter I worked on. So tedious, but you don't want your new firm conflicted out of a million dollar engagement because you forgot you worked on a deal for Pepsi or some such ;)

Yeah wow ok! Thank you. This is encouraging at least, I was afraid it would take me longer 🤣

Thank you! Great advice

Looking for recruiting firms to help me find my next project / program management role.

Struggling to determine which firms can help with PM roles AND I'm struggling to get the ones I do find to respond to me. It may have something to do where I'm at in my career - 15+ years of PM experience & director-level roles at my last 2 companies - so more exec level but not quite C-Suite. Have tons of one-off recruiters hitting me up on LinkedIn about contract PM roles but that's not what I want.

So I could use some advice for my startup. We currently are putting finishing touches on our MVP. We don’t really have any users, but we’re not sure if we should first try to secure funding (without users) or build up the user base first then go for funding. How much value do VC’s place on users before funding and how many users would they like to see for preseed funding. Any feedback is appreciated.

I've just recently been hired as an assistant manager at a Canadian outlet store. I was offered $42k plus bonuses at the interview, but when called back I was offered $44.5k plus bonuses. I already accepted. Did I leave money on the table here?
