... Be cleaned or will it suffice to seal it in plastic bags overnight so I can safely take it home tomorrow?
I have already said I want to speak to the GM tomorrow about the incident (not worth harassing her tonight), and will be asking for points... As I know someone will say that :)
If it's not bedbugs, I don't think sealing will make a huge difference. If they clean it, are you even able to get it in time for when you leave tomorrow? Usually dry cleaning is dropped off at 8a, picked up by 6 or so. And yeah, definitely ask for points
Did they put the ants there? Why would you need your stuff cleaned? You live on a planet where those little ants are literally everywhere. Loosen up. And yeah you might as well ask for points.
Um... I don't have bugs in my home and would like to keep it that way??
@K2 Totally agree! I'm venting on here but have been kind to the staff. However, they did not take the bugs seriously when I called and I see it as an issue that the front desk clerk clearly didn't know what to do. What if they WERE bed bugs? This is what I want to speak to the GM about. I've had a bed bug issue at a hotel about seven years ago (when it seemed like every consultant ran into it at some point) and they handled it perfectly. Here, not so much.
@K1 It's my regular hotel so could always bring stuff home next week instead.
Sealing won't make a huge difference imo unless you're planning to clean your luggage tonight. Ants aren't vicious animals and there are so many worse things (I've had BB before which was a nightmare... and ants you can kill off in less than a day). But yeah, if you have the option to leave it at the hotel and have them take care of it (if you're a regular, they should be more than willing to accommodate you), than go for it. I would assume they would just launder your clothes, but not sure how they would take care of luggage or other toiletries. Let us know what you end up being able to negotiate.
Front desk clerk is brand new and clearly has no idea what she's doing. She wanted to just have me stay in the same room and they'd spray it. (Nope.) I got a new room and put all my stuff from that area into trash bags. Left and went to dinner and now back - no sign of the bugs. If I don't see any by tomorrow, I'll just take my stuff home and put it into the laundry literally the second I arrived. If I see bugs before then, I'll take it up with the front desk in the morning. I've also asked the GM to call me tomorrow when she's in the office. Their handing of this is very poor and I want to bring it to her attention.
Ants won't hurt your stuff, they'll leave... I doubt they even got in it. Just let them be and let the hotel handle it. Be gracious, accept what you're offered. Karma and kindness goes a long way.
