If you have cash that you want to invest. Please consider Treasury Series I Savings Bond (Electronic). Interest is 7.12% right now. While it's not guaranteed that the 7.12% will remain until next year, it's still a good deal.
My SO and I just invested 20k (10k max per person even married).

Not bad, but I think you could probably save $4K in food and dining alone considering you have groceries in a separate category. Just eat out less and pregame more before going out. You can use that max out your 401K and then considering contributing to a ROTH IRA instead which is a tax advantaged account. You can take your money out without any penalty too and use as a 2nd emergency fund.
Do you already have an emergency saving account?
I assume the index funds are for a medium-term need? If not you might consider pushing that into a Roth.
Big picture this is really impressive on $110k in NYC. There is always room for improvement but you should feel really good about this overall.
Depends on how much you earn
About 110k last year
Agree overall looks pretty good if you're saving about 27k/yr. As HHI increases, save the difference instead of increasing spending. And now for an unhelpful comparison...our housing expenses (PITI only) last year were 110k.
I’ve got a $1M mortgage, but taxes are closer to $12k. Was curious how you got to $110k on primary residence, but with rental it makes more sense.
I think it looks great. If you’re able to put away 27k away on 110k salary, you’re being very responsible. Go ahead and enjoy your restaurants and expenditures. When I was making 110k I wasn’t saving close to that.
Hi how did you calculate this? Do you go back to your bank account and reflect through it? Of course a very rookie question
A lot of credit cards provide a year-end pie chart breakdown of spending by category.
Why did you group travel and groceries?
Honestly groceries were really small - travel+being a foodie means that I barely eat at home. We’re looking at around 2k in the year.
