I attended an interview and did assignment for Multimedia designer role 15 days ago fo BMC team at EY GDS, still not heard back, interview was positive and assignment is also good. HR's don't reply to email and don't pick calls, should I keep hope or forgot it? I'm just asking for feedback because I have put 6 hours hard work in to assignment.

I just got an offer from Accenture Switzerland, Total Comp 170K with 140K base. I have 6YOE as IT consultant and 9YOE in total. I am just upset that they did not offer me a relocation package of 20k because the cost of living in Zurich for a family with 1 child is crazy! Should I insist for a sign on bonus before accepting the offer?

I feel for you man.. issue is, if you haven’t job hunted you are likely behind what market rate is unless your company is proactive about it. Definitely raise it, and good luck 🙏
They have not adjusted your current pay to that of the market. I would position this request as such- it is my understanding the market rate for my role is 90-110k and I would like to be paid accordingly. See if they make a change while simultaneously looking elsewhere. I have been there. I have been at the same company for 15+ years and many people with less years of experience and newer were making more. But the golden handcuffs of benefits kept me. I held persistent conversations about compensation with my managers over the years which has finally brought me to where I want to be financially. It took three years though. If you are younger than I am, and less risk averse, make a move or get a counter offer if you want to stay.
Should you have a source of information when bringing this up? If so, where would one find a resource that offers that sort of information?
Get out of there. You can double your salary on the open market.
I'm going with this answer. There are other ponds to swim in out there and some of them come with much better pay. At least take a look around, do a few interviews, and see what there is.
I feel you. You are being underpaid severely. You’ve also been there for quite some time so maybe it’s time to move on and explore other opportunities.
And no a conversation with your manager will not get you up to market compensation. No matter how much they’d love to actually it’s just not going to get you there.
I’ve been there, I know the feeling. But when you get a 100% raise by leaving, this will be a distant memory.
People forget that corporations save (make?) billions of dollars by preying on employees’ fears of change, loss of “amazing” benefits, and other imaginary threats.
Woaahhhh!! Just saw that this thread is an ad for fishbowl!!
Any luck with hr?
As someone who used to work at Spotify, this does not surprise me. I'd recommend looking elsewhere, Spotify is not competitive in the comp space.
Even if your manager/ Spotify make it right, is this the kind of company you want to work for?
You need to have a competing offer in hand, that you're willing to accept, to have any meaningful conversation with your current employer. At the end of the day we are all just a number, and your direct manager can be 110% behind giving you a raise, but he/she will not get approval "just because." They might pay more to keep you once they know that you have options, though just as likely you'll need to actually leave to make more money.
I totally hear that. I’ve been working on getting a competing offer and will continue to try.
And
I’m hoping that my situation is not a “just because” but that I can cite spotifys new WFA (work from anywhere) policy that says “location within a country should not be a factor in determining compensation” and “we’ll implement national salary ranges per job”. To make a better case for myself. How can this policy be upheld when I’m making 25k less than my junior colleague?
It may not matter that I’ve been here for 5 years getting great feedback and reviews from my team. It may not matter that I’ve built our team and some of the most important components. But I’m hoping that a clear disconnect from the above Spotify policy will be enough to make the change. We’ll see
Thanks everyone for your responses!! I brought this up with my manager and HR and so far it has been denied. (Ouch) I haven’t given up and I’m working on a few paths to maybe get me there but I’ve mostly lost hope. Still looking for another job in music tech, now it’s time to ramp up the job hunt
I'm in the same situation. Everyone who resigned was countered. Some stayed and some left. I went to my manager and said can we proactively adjust my salary so I don't waste time trying to get an offer only so you can counter? He tried and didn't get approval but told me on the DL that if get an offer most likely they will counter. I'm thinking too little too late when that time comes.
Oh wow. Wow. Dude, that's unforgivable. Leave and don't look back
I hate to say it, but it’s the game. If you’re not deemed essential or good but a flight risk, they will low ball you forever. Even if they give you an adjustment you will need to play hardball constantly to stop from regressing again and if you don’t and in 3 years you find another jr person is making more, they won’t care.
Don't loo kat this as a punch in the gut, but rather leverage for you to earn what you deserve. Whether at Spotify or outside, this has now given you a great data point of what you deserve. If I can be of further help, reach out to me on LinkedIn where I am more active (as you can see your original post is already 8 days old:). I can be reached at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alanjstein/
Thanks for that Alan! I’ll definitely reach out to you on LinkedIn
That is just above what I made as a support engineer for a SF tech company (I don’t work locally). If you are in the US, that would have been an absurd salary for you a few years ago. It is wildly inappropriate now. If you work in another country, it’s still low (you have Spotify on your resume!). Money isn’t everything but that’s a stark wake-up call!
Ouch. Sorry! But I'm glad you found out. Time for a change!
I'm in a similar position right now. I brought it up 4 months ago with my manager, we're supposed to be seeing it "fixed" this month.
Good luck!
