While we may not love the company, there are certainly enough of us around to never be alone. ☺️
Not much to share unfortunately. My job search for the past 6 months has been one of the most humiliating experiences. I have never felt so unwanted and unvalued in my life. Nobody wants me. Getting a job in today's market is literally a game and the house always wins. If I don't land somewhere in the next 2 months, I'll be flat broke and forced to pick up a totally random job just to make ends meet. I never thought I'd be in this situation as I approach my 40th birthday.
I have worked in corporate recruiting since 2005. I had down periods like 2009-2010 with millions laid off every month. The only recruiting jobs were with collection agencies. Then came COVID and I did survive 2020 without getting laid off. Since 2022 recruiters are competing against 100s of other recruiters (laid off or overworked). It is a mess. I am starting to spend more time looking for work opportunities outside recruiting. It is hard but I don't think I need to defend my career success. The labor reports say 500,000+ were hired in January and February. How many just switched jobs. I don't get that this is a low unemployment market for recruiters. But the recruiter layoffs were worse a year ago. I don't think corporate America is ready for our population demographic changes and AI can't do every job.
