Don’t do fast fashion! You’ll spend more year over year to replace shit polyester, nylon, or viscose that looks cheap.
Find sample sales if you live in major metropolitan areas. Check Vestiaire Collective, Real Real, or do rent the runway before investing in brands you like for long term. Cottons and linens in summer, wool or cashmere in fall and winter. Fabrics matter. Invest in pieces that will last years, not seasons
Find a good alteration shop or tailor.
I used to spend 2-5k a season to replace crap, now I spend less than 2k a year in pieces I know I’ll wear and have forever.
Eclipse and 260 Sample Sales have both online and in store events.
Also higher quality (longer fiber) cashmere and wool, especially for suiting, won’t itch. When I upgraded I was amazed at what fabrics were supposed to feel like!

Zara, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Nordstrom (and Rack) just to name a few. Congrats!
i like Ann Taylor
SHEIN but you gotta know what to look for. Under SHEIN search for Haute, Lune, Essnce or bizwear or clasi. MOTF is one of my favorites but for quality suits Bizwear works. The price will tell you quality... there are a little higher than you're regular SHEIN...and if you don't like it first return is free per package and you can combine returns. I combine SHEIN with Afterpay and they do very well in refunds back into the account.
2nd the BR but theyve gotten so pricey
Wait for the sales! Always good ones - in store and on line
Ive gotten $200+ pants or jackets for $30-$60
Banana Republic has great sales and a very affordable clearance section!
I like White House black market
Marshalls, tj maxx, Burlington coat factory can have nine west and theory suits on the cheap. I’ve also found some nice APT 9 brand suits at Kohl’s I’ve worn for professional interviews. Ann Taylor outlet.
Adding to this…some TJ Maxx stores carry runway brand. Find those stores cause they have the best brand items.
I really like New York and Company.
Spend the money, buy quality fabrics, get things tailored to fit. For a decent balance of cost to quality , BR is good, JCrew can be good for their suiting. But it is all about the fabric- don’t pay $$ for crappy synthetic blends. They don’t last.
Think about solid colored neutrals for the pants/jackets to build a foundation that you can mix/match. I spend less on tops and have more fun with those for color and prints. I sometimes rent the tops so I can be more trendy without committing to owning something that is a quick trend.
If you have a Dillard’s Clearance Center near you, that’s also a great place to find business attire!
Ann Taylor, J. Crew, MM LaFleur, White House Black Market, Banana Republic, Vince
I love Aritzia if you’re in Canada.
Expensive but such high quality
Just here to say congratulations!
Jcrew and Banana would be pretty good
Abercrombie has great trousers and blazers and they’re always going on sale!
Also the Outnet! Great discounts on quality and luxury goods.
Fashion Nova actually has really affordable suit sets
Macys in nyc does free personal appoints w a stylist and they pick outfits for you based on what you want
