Knicks & Giants won today, what a great Sunday
Which firm hires the dumbest people?
Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! Likely to gauge your reaction.
Ah I just kept saying I’m still interested and don’t mind bla bla, would like to learn
Some surprising responses here. Perhaps they really just wanted to get a reaction, but I doubt it.
If the work is honestly tedious, they probably want you to know that upfront so they don't have to go through the whole hiring process again in 3 months when you realise just how spectacularly boring it is and quit.
Call center interviewers will often tell you that type of work is brutal and not for everyone upfront for the same reason. Sugarcoating the work just makes the revolving door spin faster. Honesty helps weed out some of the folks who wouldn't stay long anyways.
Careful, red flag imo
The company can be great but a bad roles/managers can absolutely wreck your mental health
If they are looking for a reaction they are already a red flag 🚩. Any petty manager are the worst to work with. I have a director grilling me on a first week of the job and told me how her entire team is not doing well. And how the colleague that will mentor me doesn’t even want to mentor anyone. she uses this excuse to when she has to snap at people that it’s our fault. when all she really need is to start by learning emphathy and utilizing better tactics to get to know us learn our strengths to help the team better. I’d say don’t work for this person not worth the headache! There’s gauging reaction from a potential employee
I wasn’t saying not be clear but while delivering and conveying the role it’s best for managers to ask question that gauge your ability to handle challenges rather than sharing information that doesn’t really do anything for me rather than raise a red flag. Asking insightful questions can save you time to find the right candidate for your culture and avoid misinformation.
Don’t take it as a negative. The number one complain I am hearing from managers (after employees not wanting to go to the office) is that new employees do not want to do the job that they signed up to do. The supervisor might just want to be sure that this is a good fit for you and that you understand what to expect. I have a manager that tells candidates that twice a month the work will be more than 8 hours a day and that at month close, the week will be more than 40 hours a week. She also explains why there is little to no room for creativity with some reports and the first thing new employees want to do is change reports approved by a board.
Most likely just looking for a reaction from you. Verbal or Facial.
Annoying is a very odd word to use for a manager to use during an interview.
Sounds like Wells Fargo 😂
I’ve said that a job is tedious while interviewing before. I want them to know what they are getting into lol
I wish there were more people like you
damn some of these responses are surprising, how about she’s trying to set a realistic expectation
I agree with you. I had a manager tell me something similar in an interview for my entry level analyst role. You know what? That role really was tedious and boring.
It's important for the hiring manager to find a good fit and not waste anyones time. They don't want to have to retrain someone in 6 months.
It sounds like a red flags ypu should do your research on the company culture before deciding to continue or not.
Huge red flag to me
Just to gauge your reaction
It’s probably their perception of the role itself. They might have a tough time, but if you have the right skill set [soft and technical skills], then I am sure you do well.
Trust them when they say that during interview. He’s likely a manager who isn’t respected by his managers and is most likely looking to leave his job soon!
You ideally should not consider working there
They are trying to see your reaction. Honestly it’s accurate and they want to prepare you. They want to make sure you know it’s not all “flowers and happiness” lol. It’s a rewarding job though.
Maybe the role is really tedious and they need to manage expectations of the person coming in.
Had an interview once with a member of the team and I was expressing to him that I was looking to do more stimulating work compared to what I was currently doing. He basically said “well this isn’t the role for you then”. He didn’t even take the time to understand what I was doing at the time, the loser 😂.
I e seen that happen to other people. Usually meant they had a less qualified friend or relative they want the job to go to. Need to clear out the qualified folks.
No, i feel they were trying to watch your intake on that.
Is the hiring manager the one you’d report to? If so, move along.
