Sounds like the company is still figuring itself out and your ego is concerned
I would only join a start up for equity but if status is important to you then go all out Boo
I’d say it’s worth a conversation, but I wouldn’t label it as “formal”. Talk with your boss about the optics and ask if there is a way to adjust the title to represent the difference in skill and experience. Comp is another issue and I would leave it out unless you feel there is significant salary compression with the new employees.
Doesn’t hurt to ask, the worst they say is no and then you’ll have to figure out if it’s worth it. The additional responsibilities indicate that you won’t be performing as a typical associate, unless they expect the same of the other associates.
Titles don’t matter at start ups. Get over it. Corporate has warped your mind that titles actually mean something.
You mean you started this job weeks ago and now you want a different title and more money? LMAO

Maybe you can get them to create the title ‘Managing Associate.’ Now that would be something!

You are likely the only one that will know your title. In small firms nobody gives darn about titles. There are founders, executives and everyone else.
Asking for money instead of equity will also mark you as not more than a junior.
