Recently left. First few years in the firm I experienced a tremendous amount of growth, then it became stagnant. I got a significant pay bump upon leaving, which helps too.
Booz is a great company, but pay is low and bonuses are non-existent below Sr Associate (where other firms offer to more junior employees).
Also, when I joined, the firm put 10% in your 401k regardless of what you did . Now that # is scaled back to 6%, but only yearly so you lose out on a ton of dividends/compounding interest benefits. Not to mention the ESPP program sucks (to put it kindly) when compared to others.
There are lots of little tricks done at the firm level (401k match, monthly pay, etc) that help its bottom line and impact employee pay benefits.
In short, when I joined the benefits were a major sell and better than most anyone. Now, they’re def on the lower end when compared to competitors.
I concur with BA5. I’ve been here nearly 10 years and it’s not the firm I joined. I’ve also seen unethical behavior from senior leadership that had me questioning commitment to core values. Finally started to look externally and found better opportunities
Funny. I’m here 20 year and I think it’s been pretty damn good. But it’s not for everyone. Nothing gets handed to you and many people expect it served on a platter
It was pretty lax for me when i left, i actually put in a 3 weeks notice, so plenty of time for everything. It was a smooth process, make sure you get a phone number from someone at HR in case you have questions afterwards. Good luck and welcome to the other side lol
I put mine in a week ago. One week left for me.
I think the exit process depends on your level and leadership. I’m in a Sr associate role so kinda busy
BA4 in my experience, because bah notoriously underpays, growth is stagnant, and projects are billed very low so it can be difficult for associates and above to find projects without clearances
I did indeed but when senior partners do stuff it’s like it doesn’t matter. Profits before people
Congratulations!!! I haven't had this experience yet, but definitely will have it soon. Every time I see that someone is leaving I think, how lucky!! Time to get active on LinkedIn again.
Just curious why everyone is so happy to leave & how long you’ve been at Booz. Newby so just wanted some insight.
Following this
Thank you. I have thought about that long term so it makes perfect sense. Best of luck to you both!
BAH 3. Did you report it?
Booz 5 - agree with everything you said. Isn’t the 6% match pretty good. McKinsey gives 7% (use to be 12% from what I’ve read)
BA7 - the 6% match is just ok when you break it down. If it were a true match (when you put in 6% the firm puts in its 6%) then it would be great (I.e. on par with its competition). Losing out on those dividends can/will really add up over time
Thank you 😀
