SA1 that’s the Florida way! Love to hear it! 🤣
As a born & raised in the county of Dade type 🥷🏽, you straight when it comes to these hurricanes. Even the power grid is far better. I wouldn’t mind a cat 1
Alright I’ll stock up thanks!
Would love a good Cat 1 so I can take a few days off of work 😅

Normally I would say just live your life and if a storm comes then do your due diligence to be prepared. But recently, a lot of insurance companies have been leaving the state of FL. The number of insurers and the timing of it makes me wonder if these companies have internal mechanisms for predicting business outcomes based on climate data, and they all determined that this year they would be better off cancelling policies than to stick around.
Exactly! They have actuaries on payroll who get paid to determine if policies are going to be profitable. I can only think of two reasons where that would make business sense.
1. The premiums would need to be so high that they would experience significant reputation damage if they tried to sell it.
2. The cumulative premiums that they could earn will not be enough to keep them afloat when the next big one hits.
