Late 30s CPA here. Ex-Big 4 (3.5 YOE, private co. reviews) turned federal tax auditor. Feeling stuck and looking to pivot into public company audit, Accounting Advisory (AAS), or FP&A. However, I’m struggling to land interviews. How can I better frame my government tax experience to bridge this gap? Any resume or networking advice to break into these fields?

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

Two offers: (1) big 4 technical accounting in financial services and (2) technical accounting for a well-known PE firm helping their portfolio companies. Same compensation and benefits. Advice please!

I’m a tax senior in big 4. Which role in the industry has a better career trajectory in terms of growth and pay: senior accountant or senior tax accountant? I do a lot of tax provision and starting to find tax interesting but I’m not having a lot of luck finding openings for in house tax roles.

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.
