Lateraled to Ogletree a month ago. About how long until I’m more fully ramped up and integrated to around 40 hours a week? The slow days drive me insane.

Maybe 3 months in total. Will depend on the office though

It took me about 2-3 months to get fully staffed. But I echo what your office said that reaching out to SHs in other offices is the way to go. You’ll get a flavor of different working styles and different clients - especially if you want to market yourself as available for certain types of cases.

Make an appointment to chat with your OMS. The success of the office budget and fnancials depend on everyone being at capacity, so they have a shared incentive to keep you busy.

What geographic area/office? I thought this was just my office when I started over a year ago, but sounds like it could be a firm wide thing. Ramp up for me was 4-6 months.

Fellow introverts...can I only advance in my career if I take on a leadership role? The thought of this terrifies me. My current boss hasn't exactly given me the confidence that would reassure me that I'm leadership material. He constantly questions my design choices, which I'm able to defend. It doesn't help that he always presents outdated ideas and throws UX out the window. I know that I know my stuff and keep up with best practices. I have 4+ years experience but am treated as entry level.

Hey! I'm just about to start doing some freelance work for a NYC based boutique design studio, and I need to give a hiring manager my hourly rate to give his customers. I am new to UI/UX design. I have experience in graphic design, but I just completed a certificate in UI/UX design so other than school projects I don't have an extensive amount of experience. What would you suggest I should charge? I am more interested in gaining experience than needing the money, but want to be payed reasonably.

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load. Is this what people consider negative work culture?
