Today is one of those days I never thought I’d face so soon in my career. I have been laid off due to circumstances beyond my control.
After 2.5 years of working as a Java Full Stack Developer, contributing my skills, learning every day, and giving my best, I now find myself suddenly on the other side — searching for a new opportunity.

Working from home since march 2020, got promoted December, department had a major reorg couple of months back, responsibilities increased, work increased, hours increased. I just don't feel sleepy anymore, brain is always fired up with work, writing emails in my head in the bedroom post lights out. Anyone else with me?

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

Hows the industry doing in MENA right now? Any worries about a potential crash? Are firms still hiring? Based in the US and everything is tense here with the recent tech layoffs

How is the morale in your groups especially with constant layoff news in the market?

Deloitte FL/PR is turning into a joke.. if firm morale wasn't already suffering from layoffs, they increase minimum hours through December while half the offices are unassigned. Abandon ship.

Has anyone ever been "let go of"? Either laid off or fired. How did you get through it?

Does Globant terminates the employment of certain trainees after their probation(3 Months) based on their performance in the training period? Some of the fresher trainees were laid off this morning without giving a notice or reason.

We were told that the probation period is a training period & not an elimination one. It was shocking as a few of those trainees were actually good.

Was laid off in Sept. Unfortunately we will be seeing many more coming. It's what happens in a recession. Unfortunately I now also have my age against me. Not in a mentally good place at the moment.

Thinking about starting an OF... since we aren’t getting raises this year. In all seriousness, I like being watched. But I’m too afraid to be found and get fired. My husband has a job now so maybe I can finally live my dream. Thoughts?

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. I was wanting to hit the job market towards the end of this year, but now I worry that if I do move companies, the recession could put me in position of last one hired first one fired. Is it better to stay put?

Ah the great Ad Agency Bubble, your agency is doing great, growing exponentially then boom, clients are lost, there are layoffs and there are no raises/promotions for a year. What do you do jump ship?

I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions? Only get a MacBook if you already have a windows pc, citrix workspace works best on a windows. In mac you cannot use shortcuts like Alt+tab inside the VDI. So choose wisely
