Looking for advice on entry doors 🚪 . I received the following quotes for a fiberglass door:

Renew by Anderson - $8k

Window World of Long Island - $5k

Riverhead Building Supply ( Thermatru ) - $6k

Riverhead Building Supply (Anderson) - $8k.

I know Renew by Anderson is great but can’t stretch to $8k. Any advice or alternative suppliers? Anyone use Window World of Long Island,

I had no idea they were that expensive. I mean a nice steel door on Home Depot’s website is around $500. Are you taking about completely reframing the whole entry?

Whole thing. Plus it’s fiberglass. Zero maintenance.

Those must be some really nice doors for $8k!!

Dang! I would shop around. I know that prices are exaggerated in the north, but that seems a bit much. Doors that include a frame are super easy to install. I would watch a couple of youtube videos so you can see if you think that a $1200 door is worth a $5000 dollar install price. I have installed several interior doors myself. Go buy the door and call a reputable handyman. Save yourself some money. I attached a door that might make it cost that much, but only if the door is included. But not over $500 for install.

Our appraisal came through exactly as the offer price we put. Apparently by lenders 3rd party. Isnt that a bit fishy? If it came in lower our contract has the option to negotiate a bit with seller. Is lender just trying to push this along faster? I'm pretty sure in this crazy market the home is not valued at what we offered. Why would seller put a much lower asking price then? Make no sense. Please advise!

I recently bought my 1st home in TX. I want to get into real estate and eventually own/rent out multiple homes. Are there any good recommendations/tips on books/articles/websites that others have used to get started?

I've read about HELOC and cash out refinance to get a 2nd home but articles are so scattered that it gets confusing which is better in terms of tax benefits and immediate costs, etc. Anything others have found helpful that summarized how to get started would be great!

Thoughts on buying pre-construction homes in markets that are popping and flipping selling them when construction is complete?

My uncle does this (he’s a realtor) and usually gets 2-3x return. Obviously there is huge risk because property prices can change a lot in 1-2 years, but at the same time the upside is hard to ignore.

Anyway I protect myself against the downside risk? (other than loosing my down payment)

I'm under contract for a new build in progress that won't be done until much later this year. I fully expect interest rates will be higher than what I originally estimated. I may or may not try to lock in a good rate early, but I'm planning on renting it out and this throws a bit if a wrench in my margins. I can take it financially, but wondering, If I absolutely needed to get out of buying it, what recourse do I have? Or could I go ahead, and refinance later (who knows rates at that time...)?
