Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

What do you mean “seems” to interest you? The TC to hours worked ratio would be better for maybe 3 or so years, then your consulting/PE friends will be hitting 7 digits in their early 30s while you’re still a Senior PM, are you going to be okay with that? You’re going to be in meetings trying your best to convince engineers to work on this product feature for an internal tool nobody outside the company gives af about, is this what you really want?
Not trying to dissuade you one way or the other, but you sound young and I think you should fully consider what attracts you to PM (because I’ve also seen the Tiktoks). Your life shouldn’t be designed by what’s popular but what feels right for you, and this clarity will also help you a lot in interviews.
Well are there roles within tech that would get someone who isn’t an engineer to comparable salaries? I moreso am asking about pivoting from consulting to tech and if there are lucrative roles out there that would be comparable to a consulting partner
Very common pre-post MBA route. Try to get any product experience you can within the consulting firm. You will step foot on campus for your MBA and be recruiting for internships a month later, with internships being how most tech PM MBA positions are filled FT. MBA’s are seen as 2 years to relieve and pivot, most of the time you’re deciding you direction right away or are behind the curve. Everything you will speak to in your intern interviews will be prior work experience. MBA’s are a way to re-enter a sought after talent pool with a formal stamp of approval by your university, but you’ve still gotta have the experience to speak to in order to stand out.
Best of luck!
