Local small businesses: Consider reaching out to local small businesses that may need help with their product design needs. These businesses may not have the budget for a full-time designer, but may be willing to pay for part-time or hourly work.
Co-working spaces: Joining a co-working space can be a great way to network and connect with potential clients. Many co-working spaces have a mix of freelancers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners who may need product design help. I have lot of active projects with them. This can get a bit pricey.
Non-profit organizations: Consider reaching out to non-profit organizations in your area that may need design help for events, fundraising campaigns, or other projects. These organizations may not have the budget for a full-time designer, but may be willing to pay for part-time or hourly work.
Creative agencies: Consider working with creative agencies as a freelance designer. Many creative agencies have a pool of freelancers they work with on a project basis, and may be willing to bring you on for hourly work.
Online communities: Join online communities of product designers, such as forums or Facebook groups, and participate in discussions. These communities can be a great way to network and learn about potential job opportunities.

Hi, we're a non-profit with a screenprint shop as our social enterprise. We're looking for designers when we have customers who need a design from scratch as we can't complete it in-house.
It's usually pretty basic designs for T-shirt printing, but we're aiming to refer the customer directly to a designer so we don't need to play middle-man, and they can pay the designer directly and come back with the completed designs for printing.
Let me know if this is something you're interested in discussing.
