I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

How much is the pay for data roles in the UK? I'm a data analyst with 2 years of experience and a Masters degree in Data Analysis. I have a decent project portfolio in data science. I'm experienced in SQL, Power BI, Excel and Python. I'm eager to land a data analyst or data science role. One of the companies offered me 36K. Is this fair? If not what should I aim for? Thoughts on “special” salary grades. I just found out the VP I was offered is not a grade 12 like most comparable roles (verified). Also not an 11, but an 11A. Slightly higher than an 11, a good bit lower than a 12. All due to the fact that it’s a leap from my current position. Why should that matter…..shouldn’t it pay what it should pay if I am selected, rather that curving down towards my current rate?

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

Has anyone found a way to automate salary certifications?

We get about 3-5 requests daily to fill out salary certifications for our employees in EMEA.

At the moment, we have to do all of them manually. We open a pdf, then open their employee file and plug away. It's tedious and time-consuming, but the banks I found won't accept an internal salary certification for some reason. They're adamant about using their form. Has anyone come across this?

Team just applied for a TS Clearance (defense agency). Trying to assess if it makes sense to wait till the clearance comes through (6 months to a year?) before I job hop. I'm hoping to get some clarity on the following:
1. Can my company withdraw or cancel my clearance if I leave right after I secure a TS?

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented.
