McKinsey & Company Does level and/or office matter for referrals at McKinsey & Company? A friend is willing to refer at the Associate level in my target office though I did not get any traction w/ the referral last year. I'm a Veteran so I also recognize there may be a resume translation issue despite the prior version getting me interviews with BCG and Bain. I have updated the resume since - though still wondering if there's anything else I can do to strengthen my case. Thank you in advance for any advice.

What do you mean by specialist consulting role? We have integrative consultants who are generalists and integrative consultants who are aligned to areas like Operations, Marketing & Sales, Digital, Risk, Strategy & Corporate Finance, etc... these are all consultant roles with the same pay and path. Many of these consultants work on the same teams at the same clients.
Solution delivery is a different path, where you are building expertise in a few solutions and delivering those solutions at many different clients. This is a client-facing role and you will become an expert in a topic by delivering it to many different clients. There is still a path to manager and partner on the solution path.
Solution lifestyle is supposed to be a tad better than integrative or expert consulting, because you are expected to do internal work improving the assets. However the current staffing environment is so crazy right now, that you’ll be doing the same amount of client work as other paths probably for the rest of this year until we get more folks
Internal solution work is now the solution leadership path, which is different than the solution delivery path OP is interviewing for. There was a re-org earlier this year.
