A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group
McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

I’m at BCG and tbh people seem quite miserable. Both based on the company fb bowl and from discussions with people in real life.
Mckinsey is probably the same. So I would just pick Mckinsey because it seems slightly more prestigious.
BCG1 - Thanks for sharing! My hunch (most likely wrong and isn’t factually based) was that McK would suck more in WLB. Would you disagree?
I agree with your point on slightly more prestigious though!

I’ve worked at both and will say the same thing I say to any candidate who has offers at both (or all 3 MBBs). Pick based on the people. Whoever you jive more with is the right pick because you’re going to be spending 12-16 hours a day with them every day so if you don’t like them you’ll burn out super quick.
In terms of culture, McK focuses much more on a global one-firm culture while BCG is much more office-centric. Different BCG offices have greatly different reputations whereas that’s not as clear cut with McK. Also in general (not always but more often than not), BCG tends to be more quiet and introverted while McK is more extroverted. BCG also just felt a lot more stodgy and uptight than McK to me.
And lastly McK seemed more willing to tolerate differing attitudes on how much you work / what your style is vs BCG basically just being on all the time.

So that’s not really factual. After your first 6 months you have more say in where you’re staffed. So basically the first 6 months your Professional Development Manager will assign you to studies based on some input from you and what your development needs are.
After your first 6 months it’s more of a “here’s 5 studies that are staffing, which one do you want?” And then you reach out to the studies, find more info on them, figure out who the leadership is and if you want to work with them as well as if the study will help you in your development areas. You’re in the driver seat but it’s not as if you have to go and find studies for yourself.
BCG has smart nerds and mck has all the sneks. At mck, can confirm 🤡 both firms will crank u
BCG seems also more generous (undefined meal expense policies, $5 copays, etc) and protested dinner time (6:30-8:30pm)
Also have protected time off for full team. Though we decide when it is. Doesn’t have to be for dinner.
I picked M bcs of the brand. The two firms are basically the same.
I hear Deloitte is the most prestigious
