I would highly suggest not doing this
Either take the time off completely, or don’t do the trip. This is an easy way to be marked as a low performer right at the start of your new job.
I ended up not doing it! Thanks!
I’m actually hoping OP goes on this trip. If she somehow manages to pull it off, she’s a legend. If not and she gets fired, then hilarious. Either way it’s a win for FB spectators
OP here. In case anyone is wondering, I ended up not going with my friends. Still at LEK!
Wow I hope if you go I don't get you on my case team...especially on due diligence cases we run very lean and fast

You can't work from Cabo, LEK won't let you and you'll be fired if they find out you did it anyway.
Take PTO and go wild
What’s the update here? 🍿👀
This is so clearly satire, kind of shocked nobody picked up on this
I hope it is - but wouldn’t be shocked if it wasn’t
Yah just block 2 hrs off on your calendar
Why can't you take PTO? Are you even allowed to work in a different country?
I'm sorry, but WUT?? PTO will look worse than you hungover, probably still half drunk, and taking 2 hour breaks twice a day? You should've told HR about the trip and gotten them to guarantee pto as soon as you knew about it.
How much time do you have between when you start and when this vacation is? You need to be aware of LEK’s international working policy. Also, is going to be your first job? If so, don’t overestimate your ability to “work more efficiently” it’s hard to do that when you don’t have experience on what you’re doing. Lastly, just call recruiting today and say you had this trip pre-planned and need to request PTO or see if you can work flexible hours.
Folks, let the poor girl dream 😊

This is amazing
let me play devils advocate here and say go for it -- I'm at Bain EMEA and worked the entire summer from the beach in Greece/Italy/Spain. it's definitely a gamble and if it coincides with a busy time (e.g. you're staffed right off the bat) then you're either going to (a) be working basically all day or (b) be seriously shirking your work responsibilities
regardless, let me also caveat this by saying that you should only do this if you're confident in your abilities. your performance will likely be a "step down" from when you're in a regular setup so only really do this if you're confident that you can semi-coast and still at least get the bare minimum done

Yes BC BUT did you do this as a new joiner on your very first case? I think someone with 2-3 YOE at a firm could pull this off, especially if it’s a longer project that they’ve already been on.
Just take two days off and go wed - Sunday
Lmaoo. You’re in for a shocker when you’re working till midnight the first day you’re staffed 😂
Omg give us updates on this pls!
I ended up not going!
Slipping off will be hard, but can’t say without knowing how time consuming and rigorous the case will be
Someone’s in for a rough ride
Well played, OP!
OP you can’t be seriously asking about this, are you???
Honestly it depends on your project. Working remote, no must-attend meetings, make sure your deliverables are done, you should be ok
I do this, but nearly everyday. I've been living at a hostel in Punta Cana for 5 months, and done other similiar places before. Extremely case dependent.
How are you allowed to work in Cabo? Big IT red flag
