Any perspective on m&a with regards to the current situation? Is M&A going to be the most hit? What are people and especially people on Visa doing as backup plans?
When is the second round of H1B taking place?
My visa expires on July 25th. Will apply for renewal around January. Can I travel outside of the country during christmas?
Anyone know how long it takes for L2 consular processing? And the EAD that goes with it? I would like to switch from H1B to L2 given all the issues we are seeing.
Trump tweet on immigration suspension, what all visas it impacts? I am on temporary green card expiring in September
I was on opt from July 2020 to July 2021. I got my h1b approved in 2020 and chose to activate it via the consular processing method. I left the US in Jul 2021 and will finally visit the embassy for stamping tomorrow. If successful, does it mean that I could get another company to apply for a h1b transfer right away? Or do I have to enter the US before the h1b transfer process can start? Thanks!
Has anyone heard about new labor instructions which are causing green card delays because entire recruitment process needs to be redone?
Do you think Apple and Amazon fight over who's the first A in FAANG like BCG and Bain over MBB?
Does anyone have any success stories of recently getting a new job with H1b transfer? What industry did you apply to and who is still sponsoring? Every job I’ve come across explicitly states “not sponsoring at this time”.
I think fish bowl needs to have the side FOR the executive order for an immigration ban heard. Cane we please have this be a thread to voice argument for the ban without attack?
Netflix shouldn’t be considering in FAANG Should be Uber or Microsoft instead Change my mind 😉
For those on Conditional Green Card: My lawyers have filed for the removal of conditions (I-751) about 3 weeks ago but I haven’t received the application receipt yet which automatically extends my green card’s validity for 18 months. My current green card expires in 2 weeks. If I don’t receive the receipt by then, do I need to be worried or as long as the I-751 was filed before my card expires I’m okay?
MBB folks on H1-B who recently switched to FAANG - did you run into any issues with visa transfer? My transfer has been filed and I’m a bit nervous about USCIS’ perception of consultants and the current sentiment around H1-B visas.
How does the vesting usually work at Faang companies with shares? Let’s say you get 250k in equity that vests over 4 yrs, are you entitled to 1/4 of that after a year?
I am on OPT, with 2 years left. I work for Company A right now, and I am happy with them. Company B applied for my H1b this year and I was selected. They are processing the H1b, but I don’t wanna work there. Can I take the approved H1b to Company A and continue there, without ever working for Company B? Can I work for Company B once the H1b is approved and not got to Company A at all?
Any other consulting firms sent memos to their employees about new H1B guidelines? Essentially no more alt travel for H1B holders and at least one day a week in the home office?!? :-0
How do you signal to FAANG companies to look at your LinkedIn profile? Only get other consulting firms viewing it/ reaching out for ops.
Canada PR vs USA H1B visa. I am on H1B in USA with a good job and I have a Canada PR which I thought of using to get more stability in life but as I am running out of time on Canada PR it’s making me anxious if I should stay in the USA or move to Canada. Can someone share their experience if faced the similar issue?
Thinking about advertising publicly on LinkedIn that I’m looking for a new job. What are the chances I would be fired?
Trying to get into habit of reading. Have never read any books and would love some recommendations General interest include investment, trchnology, short stories with moral, entrepreneurship, business
I'm on H1b and going to move back my home country. I'm currently on the bench. When should I give my 2 weeks notice or should I give 2 weeks notice at all? I don't want to be walked out before my last day. I'm in California if state laws matter.
Did your company give you a WFH stipend?
I'm so thankful that EY has not made the Covid19 Vaccination a condition of employment and they allow work from home to remain an option. Such a great employer. I don't want the government or my employer to dictate what happens to my body, we must always have freedom of choice. That is one of the things that makes US a wonderful place to live. To all who received the vaccine I'm happy you had that option. I will wait a few years until there is enough vaccine data before I put it in my body.
Captain your career they said, you pick your specialty they said, the culture is great they said. 🤦🏽♂️
I’m up for promotion next year (will find out around February next year) and expecting my first baby in April. I get 16 weeks maternity leave and also considering whether to tack on a 3 month sabbatical or not. Should I take the sabbatical? I get 1/3 of my salary and can only use the sabbatical once every 5 years so I’m thinking it’s probably very unlikely I could take 3 months off in my career 5 years later….(cont)

Interview for small new PE firm started up this year (<7 people) for an analyst position. What kind of things should I watch out for? Are PE firms this small a good exit?
Honest question - Do you think Facebook will lose any of its appeal to applicants in light of the news that’s been coming out? Any chance they drop out of FAANG and some other company takes their place?
How bad does it look to prospective employers to change jobs every 3 years? I've done this since college (12 years ago) and have tripled my salary as a result. Granted, I've switched between the same two companies each time, getting a big pay bump in the process. Now, the other company is looking at bringing me back again (3rd time). The pay bump won't be as big, but much better WLB, less travel, and I'll be able to do what I love. Opinions on this?
Got an offer from another firm, what is likely my current firm will match or just come up? The pay raise is roughly 30%. Also suggestions on how to go about asking.
Anybody aware of any recruitment agencies (at senior levels) in the APAC region (Singapore, India) for life sciences? Currently in the US and thinking of moving to another geography for personal reasons post covid
What’s the best single watch winder? COVID makes it tough wearing my watch all day... not looking for luxury, just something quality and a good value.
Started my first job out of undergrad: base salary 105k. Grew up extremely privileged and have no debts of my own, but also no money of my own and I am completely financially illiterate. Any kind souls willing to help guide me on what I should be doing with all this money now? My company offers a 3% 401k match which I am maxing. Right now I’ve got a fat lump sum just sitting and wasting in savings.
