I work on a consulting team at a large software company. I’m a job hopper, around 2 years each at my first and second jobs and a little over a year at this job. I recently found out they’re shutting my team down. We’re not fired, but they’re transferring us to the core implementation team, which has a horrible reputation for malignancy, overworking, and isn’t at all what I was hired to do. How hard is it going to be to for me to find a new job? Should I just stay and try things out? What next?

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

How do I figure out spending with my SO? Initially I was paying for 90% of stuff (no actual bills, just going out). I talked to her and said we need to be more even. She was never proactive. She kind of got offended but we ended on a good note to split things. It went well for a couple weeks but now it's back to normal. Just got a lateral hire offer for a Sr Associate role with BCG. Contract states that I can go for Consultant promo in 12 months. I'm interpreting this as, if I don't make the promo threshold in 12 months, I'd be counseled out. Is this a reasonable assumption? Or would I get a few more months of time to work on feedback?

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.
