I think yes, even if it’s just temporary for brand recognition on your resume. But I’m biased. I’m currently lateraling from a boutique I like a lot to biglaw and it’s not even about the money. It’s about the opportunity / brand.
You said it’s not about the money, it’s about the brand.... as a mid level, I’m not looking for a short term move with another move after that, which it sounds like you are

If you aren’t on the partnership track as you said, then it may be worth moving to a big firm for not only the name recognition and more money but also the experience with diverse and sophisticated work for your resume . It’s a long game. Good resume makes you more desirable to firms of all sizes and in house positions. Even if you are in defense or general litigation and want to flip to a plaintiff side firm, many of those firms also like the pedigree. There are plaintiffs firms in my region that consistently grab litigators from firms like Morgan Lewis, dechert, GT and others.
I’m in Corporate but I’m betting this still applies (and thank you!)

I would. Getting the right training by working on the right matters with the right partners is everything. You might also find you are suddenly passionate about your practice when you feel like you’re learning and improving and working on interesting stuff. Can make a huge difference in your exit options in a few years too. More money doesn’t hurt either.
Purely out of curiosity, how do you know you’re not on partnership track? Is this something the partners told you at some point?
I could have been more clear. I’m not senior enough to be in the partnership considerations but it’s clear that the goal is for the associates to become partners one day - I just don’t want to be one
