Be firmer around your working hours “Hey guys, I’m totally okay with keeping any existing meetings on my calendar but starting X.XX my working hours are moving to 9-6 (or whatever). Thanks for your understanding!”And then put a standing block on your calendar so no one can book over that time. Where are your clients located? Why are they also forcing clients to work at these ungodly hours? It feels inconsiderate on all fronts.
Edited to add you don’t need to explain why or go on an apology tour. It’s none of their business. 😉
Feel free to DM me. There are a lot of us out there trying to keep everything going at once. For me, childcare is a necessary expense so that I can continue to grow in my career. I see it as expensive but temporary. Whatever keeps me sane at this point.
Thats too early. 9am to start calling. People have lives and your clients are most likely dropping off kids too.
I’ve communicated but not much I can do about the timing. In order to keep my leadership on these accounts I have to show up. Early care costs more money and so does hiring help. I don’t think I’m being paid enough as it is and this is really getting to me.
Is it daycare or school, if daycare, consider a nanny instead. The can start when you need and would cost about the same.
Or an au pair. Free housing and a small stipend to cover 7-9 am.
Or ask around at school for a carpool mom who might be willing to drive your kids for gas money or you to babysit her kids one date night a month.
This circumstance will end as the kids age. If you are the breadwinner you have to adapt. Or ask your husband to find the solution. He’s in office but he can research nanny or au pair options!
