I don't know if this is the answer you want, but I think in this job market it sort of doesn't matter... I wouldn't willingly quit a job without something else lined up. I think you have to accept that most jobs are sort of torturous and not get stuck thinking the grass is always greener.
Before you quit, Just be sure the feeling of being drained is in fact related to your job. It’s possible if you leave, you’ll discover those feelings are still there, suggesting the root cause is something else? Sometimes, an intentional positive mindset can really help to reset the energy levels.
Wanting to quit your job periodically is actually quite normal and healthy. Feeling that way daily or even weekly? It’s time to go.
Your bones will tell you.
I understand how you are feeling. For me, if it starts to feel draining week after week, I know it is time to go. A bad week doesn't continue into the following weeks and even months.
I think if the feeling happens for multiple weeks (not necessarily back to back) & it’s affecting your mental health/personal life, it’s time to go. I’m in the same boat as you currently sigh
Wow Manger1! I like my job and helping others. I hope you find something you enjoy then it isn't a job. Blessings.
Agree with VPC 1!
I’m so sorry you are feeling this way, but can confirm it’s very normal. But I agree this market is tough and it’s always easier to find a new job when you have a job. Spend a little time thinking about what motivates and drives you. What type of work energizes you? In comms we often have so many different things we do. Can you utilize your current role to gain more experience and skills in certain areas to help you in a new role? Or maybe even a side project or organization you can join. For example, I’m in external comms but my real passion is change management / operations. So I’m helping roll out AI implementation with my team etc. Any little bit that gives you a sense of purpose.
