Anyone want to go on a date today? 🤷🏻♀️
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
Anyone have experience working CWX side of Facebook (Meta) ? These are the full time contract roles that potentially turn into permanent roles directly with Facebook (Meta). Had a recruiter reach out and offering me comparable TC and such, just curious if anyone has experience in these roles and success/failure of transitioning into permanent role. Thanks in advance!

Do you care about this individual as a human? If so, why wouldn't you discuss this? It's a pretty important issue. The recommendations to let him fail are sad. I have reservations about how people use AI and sometimes wish I could wave it away with a magic wand; but it's here, so I'm forcing myself to learn how to use it effectively, because I see the writing on the wall. Ideally, you should seek to understand your lead's perspective first and then share yours. It doesn't need to be a fight.
I think the real question is outcomes, not tools. If AI helps you deliver faster and maintain quality, that’s just efficiency—not avoiding work. But yeah, being transparent depends a lot on team culture and how open leadership is to change.
Your lead is going to be left behind if he doesn't start using AI but yeah I just wouldn't tell him and if he asks, be honest and be like "would you rather me do less work?". As long as you're using a company approved AI tool and you're delivering quality work, I don't think he can really mandate how you complete something.
It sounds like your lead is out of touch, so you might as well let him remain that way. Do your work and unless someone asks about it don't volunteer anything. He'll either catch up or be left behind at some point.
Honestly, ai makes mistakes more so than humans. It can be extremely inaccurate and create embedded issues with programming but for writing it can be a timesaver. Using it for tickets that are tedious is a good use for it I would just proofread it all. I would say just be careful because you don’t want him to get mad at you. Software engineering jobs seem impossible to find rn
Yup, I'm using AI for code and I honestly doubt how much time it saves me. And this is Opus 4.6. Recently it went rogue and decided the best code was no code, features be damned. It's gone on infinite loops, convinced itself of misinformation, trusts all but verifies nothing.
I have a feeling most people vouching for AI have never truly had a mastery of their craft nor appreciated the art in code. Since nobody's unionized in this field it's easy to say employers are trying to get it us to build the toolchains and systems to replace us. It may not be better than us get but, but that doesn't matter when you care only for shareholder value and not quality.
That being said it does easy stuff fast. Quality code won't get you a promotion but burning AI credits will. And it lets you lurk on galssdoor while you wait for it to churn out slop to complete your tickets with.
Yep. Allow him to live in ignorance until he gets canned. Which he's going to if he doesn't change his attitude re: AI.
That’s ridiculous, at UHG the company actually is monitoring AI usage to give you more bonus .. they pushing it so much because they know they will be left behind .. your lead is soon going to be out of work .
I embrace AI but can easily tell in a review when the person used one.
your lead is gonna get replaced by you soon. get your work done, and be intimately familiar with how it works

Your lead needs to get with the times and embrace it. That said we can tell when AI is used and I do think there’s a healthy balance
Do the work however you can the best way you can. If it helps you and your process then it is simply not his business. Some advice I would give is to make sure you create tests for your code so you can know when the AI is hallucinating on you. It often does.
