Keep that hand to yourself. What benefit do you think telling them now gives you besides just getting it off your chest?
Strike a balance. Don't complain to vent but be semi transparent with how the turbulence you're describing is making an already tough job even more difficult.
If you really have one foot out the door, you have nothing to lose by being honest. Maybe not brutally honest, but open and straightforward.
I’ve been at this a long time, in public, to industry, and back to public. It is a small world and you are likely to work with these people again in some capacity. Do you want to be viewed as the dick that lied and left in two weeks, or the professional that gave an honest opinion, stuck to your principles, and left for something better? No one will ever hold that against you.
What is your ultimate goal?
If you are a high performer and they are short staffed, I’d tell them you’re not happy on the job you’re on. I’d even ask to be transferred to the service line you want otherwise you don’t know how much longer of this you can take. Say it all more professionally but if 80% people have left what are they gonna do, fire you? 🤔 they’re already short staffed. Say you really like the firm and hope you can transfer internally
