A recruiter reached out to me about a semi-remote position with a pay range from $165-225k for 1,700 hours, “no real floor.” I make $350k plus equity now, between in-house and my own clients, plus equity, and have a chance to make $100- 200k more in the next year. I told them my current comp up front, recruiter still scheduled the interview, but I feel like I’m wasting everyones time. Its a neat firm and position would be of interest to me, but also not 100% fit. Should I even interview?
If she has to commute to Dallas often/everyday I probably wouldn’t do Allen/Plano/Frisco etc. The highways to go south (75,DNT) get really crowded at rush hour, doubling your usual commute time. If she wants suburbs, I would try and find something in the Park Cities (Highland Park and University Park). They are fairly expensive cities, but they’re great places to live, don’t look cookie cutter like most other Dallas suburbs, have plenty of greenery, and the commute to uptown/downtown Dallas is very easy. I would downsize if needed to switch from Allen to HP/UP, especially since it looks like she will be commuting
Good advice but I think entry level in UP/HP is going to be the highest end of Allen. You can’t get anything decent in that area under $2M.

My sister in law lived in Flower Mound, I would not suggest it if you’ll be commuting downtown regularly. There isn’t adequate highway access, and depending on which part of town you’re in you’ll end up driving ~20min locally each time just to get to the highway. Consider Carrollton or Coppell instead or even Addison
Allen would be far. Plano or Frisco right by a Dallas North Tollway ramp would be fastest in that area. I don’t commute downtown at rush hour, but I can get downtown in 20m some off times from northwest Plano in this situation.

Allen is far but it depends if she thinks it’s worth it.
Like if she is focusing more on saving on living expenses etc…
Frisco is ok if you’re near the toll way otherwise she’s gonna hate herself for that commute. Allen is a big no, 75 is disastrous

45-50min during rush hour
At least an hour one way and that is if she is lucky!
I live near flower mound (the colony) and it’s 35-40 min to downtown during rush hour

Check Google maps. Varies widely. Also depends on where in Dallas, 75 and 635 will be a lot different than downtown, Oak Cliff, or the Hospital District.
Thank you all for your advice! She is now thinking of moving to Flower Mound instead.
The specific location in Flower Mound matters a ton. If you are near the freeway it is a pretty straight shot and you can get to downtown in 30 minutes. If you are farther in in Flower Mound you will spend a lot of time on surface roads getting to the freeway.
I would look at East Dallas or North Dallas (south of 635 between Marsh or Midway and 75).

I do love the Lakewood area but if I couldn’t afford to buy here today (bought 16 years ago luckily).
